IES is a web tool that simulates, in a virtual crop, the irrigation schedules proposed by users. At the same time, it compares the results with the irrigation scheduling that an expert would program. By means of the comparison of the different categories of irrigation, the recommendation of good practices as well as the training about the main concepts, the users of this tool are able to learn to optimize the use of water maximizing their production. The project is supported by a knowledge base of examples from the agronomic knowledge that irrigation experts have configured with the aim of finding the closest approach and adapt it for each study case. The right video explains the key points of the project and the way the simulator works.
You can create your simulation logging in the web www.ies-sim.com. In the website you only have to sign up and define your virtual plot from which you can schedule the irrigation in order to improve your common irrigation practices.
The IES simulator is an available tool for farmers, irrigators, students, universities. It is included in the tools catalogue of the RuralCat portal (www.ruralcat.net) which is supported by the Department of agriculture, livestock and fisheries of the Government of Catalonia (DARP). IES is used in the online training courses organized by the Catalan Irrigation Office and in some university degrees.
The Final Report of the project is available to download with all details about the implementation of the simulator, and the results obtained during the validation.
